This has potential to be one of the best clubbing spots in Inverness.  Been in there when the place is empty and having a walk around you can just see there is so much you could do with the place.  With having almost a bulit in pre-club bar and 3 floors you can get lost in the place. Also having the chill out areas where you can sit and socialize with out having to shout.
And if the word through the grapevine and the place gets the x amount of money refit things could be good.

yea its a good venue but its got the name "chesse" associated with it - thats the only down side really. the refit should be good to see - watch what they do to the VIP bitty

Cant say im too fond of the place to be honest, but as Tiny says the refit will be interesting to see!

I wasnt even aware the place was still open til a few weeks ago when I heard Kam was taking on the Friday residency. Fair play to him, hopefully his nights will kick off!

It has a huge dance floor but I never liked the lay out of the place much. Maybe it was because they always let too many people in? I cant remember the last time I was in there and also didnt know it was still open until recently. Love2love well and truely killed it!

If the refit is done well it'll probably attract back all the cheese heads from Love2Love and then they wont need to put dance nights on.

That would depend on how they refit it, if they were to put multiple floors with different styles of music, now theres a thought!!

That would be cool! Places always talk about doing that and it never seems to come off.

The tricky part would be convincing the cheese lovers and dance lovers to go to the same place at the same time after being used to sl*gging each others preffered clubs off in the past, you know what people are like! Sometimes don't give places a chance.

If it's a decent refurb that might not be an issue though as it will all be new to people.

He means that people in inverness are set in there ways. The clubs all have a reputation for either cheese, or dance music. So it would be difficult to mix the two crowds in the one venue that tries to accomodate both types of music due to people stereotyping the venue. But if the Bakoo refit is extensive enough then it might lose its 'cheese' reputation. and if they did pull a mixed music venue of i think it would be great banter. Might educate the cheeseheads in some good music!
For example love2love is just G's with white curtains on the walls! and it still has the same old sh*tty cheese music reputation. Thats not to say i havent found my self in there getting my groove on to atomic kitten in a drunken stupor.

I think a lot of places have done it and it's worked well, I also think it's a good thing too... like I say tho... just got to change people's mind about a place. Which is sometimes tricky in Inverness.

If it's a good enough refurb though then that shouldn't be a problem.

maybe i haven't been to the right places but i've yet to experience a club that's successfully married casual pub drinkers and underground clubbers. the nearest would maybe be ego in edinburgh but the music there tended to be more disco orientated soulful house to cater for the mixed crowd.

even then you still had the tension on the floor between the serious clubbers facing the DJ and the drunken 'tuxedo and shiny shoes' brigade trying to grope lassies down the front :)

i think its cool the audiolife guys are experimenting with new venues btw, but i think bakoo is still ingrained into people's minds as a meat market style pub/club.

if they're serious about changing the style of night why don't they change the name along with the refit?.

Hello :) me and my bf came up to ness for a night out this weekend past and werent really sure of the best places to go but my friend from elgin said bakoo so we went, it was a bit quiet people wise but the tunes were great - it was quite heavy dance as opposed to cheese or anything! Just a shame theresnt werent more of us up so we didnt feel like d1cks dancing about! Wanted to try Love aswell but we just stayed in bakoo for the duration after being in catcus jacks and john smith bar first. Prob be back up soon tho as inverness is MUCH better than aberdeen for a night out!! Big%20smileBig%20smile
